Blue Plaques in Old Gateshead
In 2015, Gateshead Council asked us to take over responsibility for erecting Blue Plaques in the 'old Gateshead' area.
Gateshead's Blue Plaques project links people and events of the past with current buildings and locations.
Joseph Stephenson Ridley was born 29th July 1845 in Gateshead, Co. Durham, the seventh child of Matthew Ridley and Frances Stephenson.

Our second blue plaque was erected to Robert Stirling Newall and was unveiled by the Deputy Mayor of Gateshead, Councillor Jill Green on Saturday 21 April 2018.

Thomas Wilson was commemorated on our first blue plaque which was unveiled by the Mayor of Gateshead Councillor Allison Thompson on Thursday 30 March 2017 and is located on The Bank, Low Fell.
