Wed 10th September 2.00pm Cabinet of Curiosities

Cabinets of Curiosity are believed to be the forerunner of many museums around the world. Popular from the 15th century these private collections were owned by the great and good of the day and were used to entertain and impress family and friends. Cabinets of Curiosity served as collections to reflect the particular interest of their curators but most would house items of natural history, geology, ethnography and antiquities.

Michael Turner, local ornithologist and naturalist invites you to join him as he presents his own ‘Cabinet of Natural Curiosities’. Collected over 40 years Michael’s collection includes fossils, skulls, Victorian butterflies, dinosaur teeth, corals, shells, insects, feathers, Neolithic flints and many other fascinating artefacts from around the world.

Please note; This talk will be preceded by our AGM.
